On Wisdom and Understanding

Well, first of all before I start sharing my thoughts on Wisdom, I would like you to just sit back and think of all the interesting and exciting dreams you’ve always had, about how wonderful your future will turn out to be. I’m not talking about the realistic mature goals you’ve set for your self after weeks or even months of deliberation. I’m referring to the dreams you would hear an innocent Child describing, who has absolutely no idea of the Challenges he or she has to Overcome to be victorious or successful as the case maybe.

I’ve realize that, as the mind matures and loses the innocent mindset of a child, these crazy childlike dreams keep fading away till one gets to a point where one just wants to become someone who’s comfortable and makes as much money as one can to live the good life which involves having a stable Job and earning enough money to be comfortable. I think the society calls this process maturing, facing the facts of life. This is natural and something everyone has to do at one stage in life or the other.

However there are those who mature, get to face the difficulties and temptations of life, yet they do not lose sight of their dreams, ambitions, or their childlike mindset which has no boundaries, which do not take no for an answer or let their present conditions dictate to them how they are to behave or what to strive for. Am talking about those who strive for greatness. If you are such a person then know that you are the one that am really trying to reach out to.

Unfortunately most people that tread on this part get either disappointed, distracted or frustrated. That’s why I want to share my opinion on the Importance of wisdom if one strives for true greatness. Its possible to have all the money in the world being accomplished with loads of titles and so on and yet be unfulfilled. This is because the world we live in is filled with vanities upon vanities as stated by the preacher in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 1vers 2:

Vanity of vanities ,saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities: all is vanity.

Also it is written in the book of Matthew chapter 16 verse 26:

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Therefor the greatness I strive for is the sought, that comes from the Lord, as described in the book of Proverbs chapter 10 verse 22:

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

I believe that the first step one should take in accessing the Lords Blessings is getting Wisdom and understanding as explained in the book of Proverbs chapter 4 verse 5-9:

5.Get wisdom, get understanding; forget it not, neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6.Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee.

7.Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding.

8.Exalt her, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee honor when thou dost embrace her.

9.She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.”

 

also the book of Proverbs chapter 3 verse 13-19 stats:

13.Happy is the man that findeth wisdom and the man that getteth understanding;

14.for the merchandising of it is better than the merchandising of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15.She is more precious than rubies, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared to her.

16.Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and honor.

17.Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18.She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her, and happy is everyone that retaineth her.

19.The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath He established the heavens;

From the above Bible text, I hope that you can begin to understand why I believe that wisdom and understanding are very necessary for one who strives for greatness, because when a great and effective door is opened, there are bound to be a lot of adversities manifesting them selves in all forms.

Moreover it is Wisdom and understanding that enables one to gain power, wealth, being able to say and do the right thing, or be at the right place at the right time. It is Wisdom that teaches us the importance of meekness, and prudence and so much more. So I can’t but emphasize this once more, and that is, for one to avoid being either disappointed, distracted or frustrated in life, wisdom is the principle thing, therefor get Wisdom.

So I guess that right now the one million dollar question is, “how does one get this wisdom?”. I would encourage you to read, the book of Proverbs. I recommend it as the best starting book for anyone who is seeking for wisdom because King Solomon was truly blessed with Gods wisdom.

However I would implore you to keep this in mind about wisdom, understanding and knowledge as written in the book of proverbs chapter 1 verse 7:

The fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge

and nothing else.

Gods Love

What is love: Is it being sexually aroused?. Dose love only exist between a man and a woman, husband and wife, parent and child, within the Family, between friends? I don’t think so. I feel that the meaning of love, in my generation, has been so distorted that it has lost all resemblance to it’s true meaning. That’s if the true meaning of love was ever clear to begin with.

However, most people will claim to know the true meaning of love, which might actually be true. However, one only has to watch the TV for a while, listen to some of the latest love songs or Google love on the net to understand that 80-90%(conservatively estimated) of love related Topics, all have to do with sex, or being in a relationship. So, although most people would claim to know what true love is, one finds out that the reality of the situation, says something completely different. That is, we as a generation have absolutely no Idea what true love is.

When i say true love, I mean, “God kind of love”. The Love that our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth must have had for us when he was tortured and crucified so that we can be born again and called sons of God. Even after all that the only thing Jesus found fit to ask for us from God the father on the Cross of Calvary was mercy for those who crucified him. Am talking about the love a man like Nelson Mandela must have possessed to be able to endure 27 years of hard labor in prison for doing the right thing and yet after he was released from Prison and elevated to being the most powerful man in South-Africa and beyond, his most important goal was to destroy the evil of racism in South-Africa an beyond through creating peace between the liberated South-Africans and the people who had subdued them in the past.

“Why am I even writing this”: I asked my self: well, yesterday I heard a preaching from Bishop David Oyedepo. Although by now, I must confess that I have already forgotten most of what was preached. I found that a particular sentence stuck with me, which was “One can not love God if one can’t love his Brother”. So I started pondering and it occurred to me that, there was so much more to this Phrase than one can actually imagine. To me, it meant, that if one can not love ones brother, sister, friend, neighbor or just the person out there that one can see, touch, chat with, argue with and even laugh with, how was one then meant to, from the bottom of ones heart, love an almighty Entity, that can’t be seen or touched. This is so Mysterious that it gets scary.

“So how is this meant to work out? “ I thought to myself. Is one supposed to spend ones whole time praying, fasting, reading the Bible, or Confessing Gods love? Then I remembered that the Bishop also said that Loving God is not Theoretical but Practical. But praying and etc. have nothing to do with loving ones Brother, I thought to myself. It also occurred to me that the meaning of Gods love is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians chapter. 13 verse 4-6 which is :

Love is patient,love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5.It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,it is not easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs.6.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.7.It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Also the Bible states in Matthew Chapter 25 verse 31-40:

31.When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:32.And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:33.And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.34.Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:35.For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:36.Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.37.Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?38.When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?39.Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?40.And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Now, all this Wisdom helped me come to the conclusion, that Loving God isn’t the ability to pray and fast for seven days straight, nor is It the ability to cram the whole Bible or to be Confessing Gods Love day in day out, 24/7. These all count, but at the end of the day they don’t equate to loving God. It’s only when we are able to love other Humans selflessly that we love God, because God himself appears to us through other fellow Human beings like ourselves.
