Deep Relationships

Hi there everyone, a few days ago I came across an interesting emotional gospel song. Which got me thinking The Singer was singing about having a deeper relationship with God. From the strength and passion of the voice, it felt as if the request for a deeper relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, was truly coming from the bottom of the artist’s heart with all sincerity. This same feeling resonated with me, however at the same instant it also occurred to me that having a deeper relationship with God, in my opinion, is not dependent on how broken hearted we are or how much we love God, but rather how much time and effort we are willing to invest, better said sacrifice for that relationship.

Don’t misunderstand me, for I am not referring to those who are yet to accept our Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. For it’s clearly stated in the Bible, that one has to come before God in repentance with a broken heart, in truth and in spirit with meekness and humility in order to become a new creation in Christ. I am referring to those who have accepted Jesus as their lord and savior.

So the one million dollar question now becomes “what next?” Fine you’ve accepted Jesus Christ into your life, you have started a father to son relationship with our father in heaven so what next?
The answer to this question isn’t that complicated in my own opinion just ask yourself this. The current relationships in which I am right now with the people around me, how do they function? How do I currently maintain and get the most out of the relationships which are, most important to me. For example the relationship between husband and wife, between parent and child, between friends, between two business partners etc.

Every one of at one point or the other have been or are currently in such relationships and all know that for such a relationship to exist, there has to be that love or at least common interest. However it’s common knowledge that for such relationships to deepen, blossom or at least be profitable love and common interest are not enough. That sacrifice, that effort has to be there. For in life confessions of love an interest can only one earn one so much. It is the constant sacrifices of time, effort, money etc. that earns us the respect and appreciation of others, not for an instant or a while but for a lifetime. That I believe is the “true love”, with which we deepen our relationships with others.

I believe that this same principle applies to our Father in heaven because every one of us has so much more to gain, from having a deeper relationship with God and a lot to lose by just keeping it shallow.

1st Corinthians chapter 2:9
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered
into the heart of man, the
things which God hath prepared for
them that love him.

For on the judgment day, the first will become the last and many who thought them self’s “born again” professing Jesus Christ day and night, will be termed workers of iniquity.

Matthew 7:21-24
21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto
me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that
doeth the will of my Father which is
in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in thy name? and in thy name have
cast out devils? and in thy name
done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto
them, I never knew you: depart from
me, ye that work iniquity.
24 ¶ Therefore whosoever heareth
these sayings of mine, and doeth
them, I will liken him unto a wise
man, which built his house upon a
