Hi everyone, once again am here seated in front of the PC writing about our lord Jesus Christ, The kingdom of God and Christianity in General, trying my best to express my own understanding of the word of God with all it greatness, mysteries, wisdom and so much more. However since there is so much to write about and so much I don’t yet know, starting up is always a challenge but, “not to worry or fear ye not” as one usually says cause challenges are there to be surmounted. So now, to the main essence of this post.
I have always intended to write about the end of days according to the Bible. However I have been a bit hesitant because I find that the End time prophecies according to the Bible is a very delicate topic which needs to be handled with care. It’s the sort of topic that takes courage to write about or even discuss among ourselves. For, in my opinion, when one starts talking about stuff like; the end of the world, rapture, The seven spirits of God, dragons, many headed beasts, the wrath of God, the bottomless pits with all the creatures inside and etc, I feel that people tend to start looking at one like “okay, I think this dude has totally lost it !!”. Cause frankly, the book of Revelations and all the other Bible scriptures related to the end time are mysteries one can’t hope to understand if it’s read logically.
I also find that the end time according to the word of God, just like all the Books In the Bible, is a very vast topic with so much to write about and a whole lot of different views. However the core message is very simple which is that our Lord Jesus Christ is coming to Judge the world in truth and righteousness in other words to separate the sheep from the goats which in my opinion will happen in not a very distant future.
In this post I want to check if there is any relationship between man’s scientific knowledge of the universe and the creation and end time scriptures, according to the Bible. So what do you guys think about existence life beyond the earth (aliens),That’s if there is life beyond the earth. I know this question is coming out of the blues but some people like myself, tend to ask how space, other planets, solar systems, galaxies, milky ways and etc. fit into the word of God and particularly in relation with the end time.
Let us start from the beginning, that is, the creation of the world. To state it clearly, I am one who believes in the Bible and in our Lord and savior Jesus Christ totally. That means that I am not here to verify the word of God based on scientific facts instead I am trying to find out if there is any credibility to what we call scientific facts, based on the word of God.
In summary; “According to the standard theory, our universe sprang into existence as “singularity” around 13.7 billion years ago. Our universe is thought to have begun as an infinitesimally small, infinitely hot, infinitely dense, something – a singularity. Where did it come from? We don’t know. Why did it appear? We don’t know.
After its initial appearance, it apparently inflated (the “Big Bang”), expanded and cooled, going from very, very small and very, very hot, to the size and temperature of our current universe. It continues to expand and cool to this day and we are inside of it: incredible creatures living on a unique planet, circling a beautiful star clustered together with several hundred billion other stars in a galaxy soaring through the cosmos, all of which is inside of an expanding universe that began as an infinitesimal singularity which appeared out of nowhere for reasons unknown. This is the Big Bang theory.“ (an except from; http://www.big-bang-theory.com/).
However according to the Bible God created the World in six days and rested on the seventh day. From the above except, it’s clear that, a lot is still unclear with regards to the scientific explanation of the universe. I do not claim to be an expert on evolution and co, but in my own opinion, that is, the layman’s point of view. The theory while providing a logical explanation to the origin of the universe stills remains inadequate due to it’s lack of tangibility, creating more questions than answers. However, if we are to analyse these theories “Logically”, one can’t deny that the world being created over a period of billions of years sounds more “plausible” as to seven days.
In my opinion this difference in time rang between the scientific evolution theory and the creation of the world according to the Bible is the foremost reason why the Bible version is often discredited by people, who tend to lean more to the “scientific”. Nonetheless the Bible isn’t a normal book like every other, I describe it as a book of mysteries where one plus one doesn’t add up to two. Where one can read a particular verse or chapter for a thousand times and yet get a thousand different revelations from each read. What am I trying to point out? For instance, In the Book of Genesis, it is written that God created the world in six days and then rested on the seventh. Yet it is also explained to us in the Bible that the way we perceive time is totally different form the way our father in heaven perceives time. So In my opinion seven days to Our father in heaven can mean anything to us it could also mean billions of years or a few seconds because Gods thoughts and actions are just far too high for us to understand.
2nd Peter chapter 3 verse 8 states:
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of
this one thing, that one day is with
the Lord as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as one day.
The book of Psalms chapter 90 verse 4 also states:
4 For a thousand years in thy sight
are but as yesterday when it is past,
and as a watch in the night.
Narrowing our scope down to the earth. According to the Bible God first created plant life on dry land then life in the seas and sky then animal life on the dry land and then lastly came man.
Genesis chapter 1 verse 19-26:
19 And the evening and the morning
were the fourth day.
20 And God said, Let the waters
bring forth abundantly the moving
creature that hath life, and fowl that
may fly above the earth in the open
firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales,
and every living creature that
moveth, which the waters brought
forth abundantly, after their kind,
and every winged fowl after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying,
Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the
waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply
in the earth.
23 And the evening and the morn
ing were the fifth day.
24 ¶ And God said, Let the earth
bring forth the living creature after
his kind, cattle, and creeping thing,
and beast of the earth after his kind:
and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the
earth after his kind, and cattle after
their kind, and every thing that
creepeth upon the earth after his
kind: and God saw that it was good.
26 ¶ And God said, Let us make
man in our image, after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the fowl of
the air, and over the cattle, and over
all the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creepeth upon the earth.
In summary the general acknowledged evolution theory, states that life on earth started primitively in the seas through single-cellular organisms evolving into more complex multi-cellular organisms. Thereafter migration came about from the sea onto the dry land due to the abundance of food and nutrients that could be found on land at that point. After a long period of time within which the rise and fall of the Dinosaurs occurred and lots more evolution continued and the primitive man known as homo habilis came to be, further evolving into the homo sapiens which science refers to as present man.
In my opinion I find that the word of God which is ye and amen and the evolution theory both have some certain similarities. Like the creation of the first moving creatures in the seas and sky’s according to the Bible and the beginning of life on earth in the seas according to the evolution theory. Also in the Bible man was created last while the evolution theory that man evolved much much later ie, most of species we know today were already present or yet to evolve.
We also know that according to the Bible God created man out of the dust of the earth in His own image and likeness and saw that it was good.
Genesis chapter 2 verse 7:
7 And the LORD God formed man
of the dust of the ground, and
breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life; and man became a living
soul.
Our father in heaven also placed the first man and woman Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden where everything they needed was provided, not lacking anything, with the only condition being that they do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They however ended up eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thereby bringing Gods wrath upon them and being expelled from the garden of Eden with all it’s benefits.
Genesis chapter 3 verse 7:
7 And the eyes of them both were
opened, and they knew that they
were naked; and they sewed fig leaves
together, and made themselves
aprons.
What am trying to point out is, the worldly wisdom which we see today ,that is, the man (homo sapien) who became aware of his nakedness and had to learn how to survive off his surrounding came to be after the first man Adam and Eve ate from the tree of good and evil and were expelled from the garden of Eden.
Genesis chapter 3 verse 17-19 states:
17 And unto Adam he said, Because
thou hast hearkened unto the voice
of thy wife, and hast eaten of the
tree, of which I commanded thee,
saying, Thou shalt not eat of it:
cursed is the ground for thy sake; in
sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the
days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it
bring forth to thee; and thou shalt
eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt
thou eat bread, till thou return unto
the ground; for out of it wast thou
taken: for dust thou art, and unto
dust shalt thou return.
Well I hope that so far I have been able to make some sense, but I believe that at the end of the day no matter how complicated or different, theories of our existence or origin maybe from the word of God, they all still have their roots from the Bible which is ye and amen.
Have a blessed Easter,
Nonso B-Anyeji
