Hi there everyone, In this post I would like to share my thoughts with you on the word of God and why one should devote more time to it, especially on the End Time prophecies, Our first love and being prepared for the second coming at all times.
Now the first thing one should ask him or her self is, “do I believe in God?, do I believe that there is a higher power who created me and every other thing?, do I believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is the son of God who died on the Cross of Calvary for the forgiveness of sin to give us a new and better testament?”
After asking oneself these questions sincerely, thereafter finding out that any of your answers are on the negative, then unfortunately I would have to inform you that you will most likely have some difficulties, relating to this post and in general relating to anything that has to do with the word of God.
Lets get started. In the Book of Revelations I found another verse impressing on us, the need to read and study the Scriptures.
Revelations chapter 1 verse 3:
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and
they that hear the words of this
prophecy, and keep those things
which are written therein: for the
time is at hand.
This verse as you have seen does not simply implore us to read the scriptures, in this case the end time prophecy, but it also implores us to keep that which is written. That is we should not just be hearers/readers of word but we should also be doers of the word, for our Lord Jesus said that it is by their fruits that you shall know them.
Matthew chapter 7 verse 15-16:
15 ¶ Beware of false prophets,
which come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening
16 Ye shall know them by their
fruits. Do men gather grapes of
thorns, or figs of thistles?
The above verse in the book of Revelations and Matthew also made me recall a parable which in my opinion explains the phrase “by their fruits you shall know them” more vividly.
Matthew chapter 13 verse 3-9:
3 And he spake many things unto
them in parables, saying, Behold, a
sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds
fell by the way side, and the fowls
came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places,
where they had not much earth: and
forthwith they sprung up, because
they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they
were scorched; and because they had
no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and
the thorns sprung up, and choked
8 But other fell into good ground,
and brought forth fruit, some an
hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some
Now this Parable, basically is explaining how we Christians assimilate the word of God. It makes one understand that the word of God when we hear or read about it, is like a seed planted. It also makes us understand that, receiving the word of God into our lives i.e. planting the seed does not automatically equate to it germinating and bringing forth profits/fruits. It however depends on how the seed is cared for and in what type of environment it is planted in. Here is a much better explanation of the parable from our Lord Jesus Christ him self.
Matthew chapter 13 verse 18-23:
18 ¶ Hear ye therefore the parable
of the sower.
19 When any one heareth the word
of the kingdom, and understandeth
it not, then cometh the wicked one,
and catcheth away that which was
sown in his heart. This is he which
received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed
into stony places, the same is he that
heareth the word, and anon with joy
21 Yet hath he not root in himself,
but dureth for a while: for when
tribulation or persecution ariseth because
of the word, by and by he is
22 He also that received seed
among the thorns is he that heareth
the word; and the care of this world,
and the deceitfulness of riches,
choke the word, and he becometh
23 But he that received seed into
the good ground is he that heareth
the word, and understandeth it;
which also beareth fruit, and
bringeth forth, some an hundredfold,
some sixty, some thirty.
While still on the Book of revelations I came upon another interesting verse which my mum had previously shown me in the past. It talks about ones first love. Yea am sure you just had the same reaction I had, when I first heard that, like “ okay what’s going on here and what did I miss out on” but after taking my time to read the verses, I finally stated getting the whole picture.
Revelations chapter 2 verse 4-5:
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat
against thee, because thou hast left
thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence
thou art fallen, and repent, and do
the first works; or else I will come
unto thee quickly, and will remove
thy candlestick out of his place, except
I thought this Important to share because, frankly, most people myself included tend to get too comfortable and we all know where that leads to. One starts slaking, taking things for granted, and just generally losses momentum. So basically what my father in heaven was saying through my mum was, don’t slack remember where you started from and how energetic you were and keep it up.
I believe that this massage “remember your first love, don’t slack” now more than ever is important for we Christians who profess Jesus as our Lord and saviour. For just like in the Parable of the Virgins. Jesus is going to come like a thief in the Night and it is only those who are at alert and ready that are going to the feast with him.
Matthew chapter 25 verse 5-6:
5 While the bridegroom tarried,
they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry
made, Behold, the bridegroom
cometh; go ye out to meet him.
1.Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 2:
2 For yourselves know perfectly
that the day of the Lord so cometh
as a thief in the night.
Have a lovely weekend and till the next post.
